Samira Choudhury

Therapist
She/They

Samira Choudhury brings experience and a genuine passion for supporting mental health and healing.

Samira’s early life was shaped by diverse cultural landscapes, immigrating from Bangladesh as a child and finding a home in the Midwest. She spent childhood years in Southern California’s Orange County and completed middle and high school in South Dakota’s Black Hills. Samira earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, finding her way from Minneapolis to Chicago to pursue a master’s at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Like many young people who seek their first experience with therapy in college, Samira was inspired by her first "terrible" therapy experience to learn more about what therapy is and embarked on her long journey into the field. As she learned more about mental health, she also continued to recognize the systemic challenges faced by clients often unrecognized by therapists, inspiring her to further pursue a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. This commitment now guides their work in narrative and liberation-focused therapy, where she helps clients reauthor their lives free from anxiety, depression, unhelpful relational patterns, and feelings of powerlessness, with a particular dedication to marginalized and immigrant communities.

Samira cultivates patience through gardening and finds joy in immersive Sci-Fi, especially Octavia Butler and apocalyptic stories. Some of their favorite places in Rockford include the rose garden at Nicholas Conservatory, Edward’s Apple Orchard, and the trails at Rock Cut State Park.
